PROJECT PROFILE

Kawir and Kuthun

Yarkuwa Indigenous Knowledge Centre

Kawir & Kuthun was created as part of the Deniliquin Indigenous Language Project.

It is the first book published in Wamba Wamba / Wemba Wemba by the Deniliquin community.

Sivonne Creative worked with the team at Yarkuwa Indigenous Knowledge Centre to create the project, facilitating workshops with the community on children’s book creation, illustration techniques and character development. We then designed the book using the artwork created in these workshops. This artwork was also used to create an exhibition and a large mural celebrating local language.

The project scope included workshop facilitation, art and illustration, community engagement, copywriting and graphic design, exhibition curation and design, public art creation and marketing and merchandise design.
